Nothing Sweeter Than a Sweater
I remember a family vacation to Seattle in ninth grade, sitting in the back seat of a rental car, watching raindrops roll down my window and listening to The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather.” I definitely imprinted on that song in that moment, but adolescent biases aside, “Sweater Weather” is still objectively iconic, and I shan’t entertain any opinions to the contrary. I’m pretty sure the song is single-handedly responsible for my resultant obsession with knitwear, which continues to this day; if you comb through the Worn In, Worn Out archives, you’ll notice I’ve written about sweaters more than any other category.
Today is September 2, which means it’s technically autumn, and therefore it’s officially Sweater Weather. Does it matter that today’s weather is a temperate 80 degrees? No, it does not. Let the fall fashion commence!
Knit Pick

FAFA MAXI CARDIGAN IN LUREX JACQUARD - YAN YAN KNITS
I follow too many knitwear brands to count, but I find myself returning again and again to the products from Hong Kong-based brand Yan Yan Knits — I mean, just look at this insanely gorgeous cardigan dress. Founded by former rag & bone Director of Knitwear Phyllis Chan, Yan Yan’s designs are fun, playful, and eclectic, merging traditional Asian silhouettes with modern textiles to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I love the swirled flower pattern, the glittery lurex details, the subtle color blocking, the endless parade of buttons that alternate sides as they march down the length of the dress. It’s demure yet alluring, but most importantly, I bet it’s amazingly cozy.
Hot Under the Collar

AUTUMN LEAF EMBROIDERED LINEN COLLAR - LEAFLING BAGS
If you’re like me, you already own far too many big bulky sweaters hogging all your closet space, and have zero need (or room) for another one. Should you find yourself itching to add to your sweater collection, may I suggest instead springing one of these embroidered linen collars? They’re so adorable and the perfect way to spice up a sweater you already own. While you’re here, I highly recommend taking a stroll through the rest of the Leafling Bags shop, which feels like stepping into an woodland wonderland; from fox-shaped backpacks to DIY autumnal samplers to leather embossed notebooks, every product looks straight out of a “Fall Inspo” Pinterest board.
Blanket Statement

LA FLEUR BODY BLANKET IN RECYCLED COTTON - YOKOO
Perhaps you’re not like me and sweaters aren’t really your thing. Ok, sure, fine, I suppose hypothetically such people could exist. In that case, could I interest you in a blanket? The ones in Yokoo Gibran’s Etsy shop are all made from recycled cotton yarn and feature bold, bright Marimekko-esque prints — very chic! The blanket measures 50 x 50 in, so there’s more than enough fabric to serve as a wrap, shawl, scarf, or cape even, whatever suits your fancy; they can also serve as a great excuse to invite a crush to come cuddle underneath.
