Take a Trip
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
There’s a few new faces around here, likely due to the brief WIWO mention in this Financial Times article about Rachel Tashjian’s fashion newsletter Opulent Tips. Hello, welcome! My name is Kitty, I’m currently work-shopping over at the Strategist, and this avatar of me is a bit misleading, as I’ve largely grown out my pink hair (I’ve been meaning to update it 😅). I hope you stick around! Also, a quick shot in the dark: if anyone here has the hookup for the Opulent Tips subscriber list… my email’s down below 👀

MIA SIGNATURE WAVY PLAID DRESS - PH5
I’m not one to get suckered in by the Instagram algorithm — I’ve never bought anything off an Insta ad before — but while flipping idly through Stories, I was served an ad of a model in this insane PH5 dress, and before I knew it my index finger was swiping up. You know how some clothes just appeal to you on a baseline, molecular level? This dress hits all my buttons: a mind-bending design finished with a nutty hem, crafted from sustainably-sourced yarn. My birthday is in a month, and though I already have several Birthday Dress options lined up (y’all know about the Birthday Dress?), this one immediately shot to the top of the list. My only dilemma is that I can’t decide which color to get; the ad showed me this blue and orange, but I’m leaning towards the lavender and yellow so I can rep the official color palette of this newsletter.
Not Your Average Pearl
KITCHENETTE BRACELET - MUDD PEARL
I don’t know if I’ll ever be a pearl necklace kind of girl, but I can get behind being a pearl bracelet kind of girl, especially if it looks like this spiky, unruly one from Mudd Pearl. I didn’t even know pearls could come in such oddball shapes until I stumbled across the brand. A quarantine project started by Mary Anderson and Yasmine Geurts, Mudd Pearl’s eccentric creations aren’t what you’d find in your grandma’s jewelry box — but that’s precisely the point. Their bracelets and necklaces feature pearls with jagged edges, three-pronged trident pearls, pearls that narrow into knife-sharp points… and it’s doing more for me than any dainty, smooth-sanded strand ever will.
Loafin’ Around
It’s a toss-up as to whether cowboy boots or loafers are going to be the official Fall 2021 shoe — according to this Gen Z survey from Casey Lewis (who once wrote a guest issue for WIWO!), it’s gonna be cowboy boots — but I feel like they already had their shine this summer. Plus loafers are such a back-to-school shoe, evoking thoughts of bobby socks and plaid skirts and oversized blazers. I’ve got my eye on this pair of chunky loafers from the Germany-based sustainable footwear brand Trippen; the split-sole platform and wide elastic strap across the insole remind me of my dancing days, but the fun fringe concealing the elastic keeps it from tilting into jazz class territory.
