Turn Over a New Leaf
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
There’s a slight nip in the air, a hint of chill coasting on the breeze, a lengthening of shadows and a crispening of flora. Or perhaps it’s all in my head, just because I’m so impatient for fall to arrive. How’s everyone feeling about the last vestiges of summer slipping away? Personally, I can’t wait to peep some leaves and pick some apples — bring on the pumpkin spice!
Back to Back
I loved my pink hair and I don’t regret trying it (YOLO, etc.), but I won’t lie, it really did a number on my skin. For one, my scalp was shedding like crazy, and also my shoulders and upper back started getting mad breakouts — likely due to all the hair masks and conditioning treatments I was leaving on overnight. A year and a half later, the dandruff has thankfully disappeared, but some scars and hyperpigmentation around my shoulders remain, so I’m very intrigued by this brand Soft Services. Their products are specifically designed to target body acne, and this duo in particular is packed with skin-saving ingredients like sulfur, salicylic acid, zinc PCA, and niacinamide to target flare-ups and dark spots. Plus, they even have a full page dedicated to recycling their product packaging, which I greatly appreciate — I always feel a pang when I have to toss empty containers in the trash.

DOLCE AND GABBANA LEATHER PANEL TROUSERS - LA VIE EN FAUVE
I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of brown leather pants, and since I don’t want to support animal cruelty but I also do not want to wear plastic, that leaves secondhand shopping. While browsing through the offerings on Etsy, I stumbled across these insane Dolce & Gabbana leather trousers, and honestly, I kind of wish I hadn’t, because knowing that these exist and that I can’t buy them physically pains me. The fit! The craftsmanship! The wavy, 70s, Paloma Wool-esque pattern! Look, am I going to pay $1,300+ for them? Fuck no. But do I want them with every fiber of my being? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Ginkgo Girl
I’ve been seeing soft, velvety, shell-shaped pillows all over interior design Instagram, to the point where I can’t tell if I actually want one or if my tastes are just being held hostage by incessant exposure. But I’m pretty sure — like 95% maybe — that I do genuinely want this ginkgo-shaped pillow from Polish studio Moi Mili. It’s got the same ribbed texture and delicate scalloped edge, and comes in lovely autumnal shades like “honey” and “cream” and “caramel.” I feel like this pillow masterfully conveys “Yes, I’m aware of current trends but I’m not going to just follow them blindly, I’m different.” I’m not like everyone else! Right?……Right?
