Thrifted Treasures
One of my New Year’s resolutions is to live more sustainably and be more mindful of my consumption habits. I know this is a shopping newsletter where I recommend available products you could buy yourself, but I’d like to feature more thrifted items, especially since I think buying vintage/secondhand goods is the most ethical way to consume while still getting that sweet sweet dopamine hit. And also because a lot of the most unique things I own are thrifted and it’d be a shame not to show them off!
Therefore, I’ve decided to dedicate this edition to pre-owned pieces. I hope it encourages you to scour your local consignment stores and see what cool stuff you stumble across!
Where’d you get that?

VINTAGE YELLOW FRILLY BLOUSE - DEPOP
Correlation does not imply causation, but ever since I watched Little Women my wardrobe has witnessed an uptick in Victorian-inspired garments. First I bought a pussy bow sweater, then I stole a floral vest from my mom’s closet, and now I’ve obtained this frilly yellow blouse. It’s so extravagantly over-the-top, but I can’t help loving it. Wearing yellow never fails to lift my spirits, and, well, when paired with copious ruffles, it’s like a generous slice of lemon meringue pie.
Shoutout to Kelly Cole on Depop who sold me this blouse, which she bought from The Corner Store, itself a vintage clothing purveyor. I just know that this garment carries an interesting history, and I hope we’ll have some good times together.
I’m obsessed with:

VINTAGE COACH COIN PURSE - CURE THRIFT SHOP
Is there a more painful indignity in life than lugging your hamper full of dirty underwear all the way to the laundry room, only to realize you don’t have any change? When that’s happened (which, I must admit, is multiple times) I gotta run to CVS and do cash back and annoy everyone in line as the cashier meticulously counts out $10 worth of coins.
But ever since I picked up this vintage Coach coin purse from Cure, my laundry days have become smooth sailing. It’s basically my grown-up piggy bank. The rich red leather is trimmed with orange and offset with white stitching, while the interior is lined with an understated plaid fabric. Plus, I love the double kiss lock, as the smaller pocket is perfect for storing my ample punch card collection. Farewell, days of walking home clutching fistfuls of quarters!
On my wish list:

JUGENDSTIL CHANDELIER VIENNA CIRCA 1910S - 1STDIBS
1stdibs is where I go when I really want to torture myself browsing through utterly gorgeous, wildly expensive things. I mean, just look at this stunning 1910s Jugendstil chandelier. The art nouveau style always conjures up images of fairy girls with long, flowing locks and a crown of flowers; if this dreamy, ethereal chandelier were personified, she’d definitely be one of them.
