Star Girl Summer
For those recovering from a two-day Prime bender, I’m sure the last thing y’all want to hear about is More Stuff. But friendly reminder that Amazon sets dangerous precedents and that small, independent stores are always worth your support!
Ok, on with the show:
Where’d you get that?:

BIG POCKET STAR GIRL DRESS - NOOWORKS
Everyone warned me about New York summertime hell, but I didn’t quite believe them until I was packed in a teeming, steaming subway platform for 15 minutes waiting for someone to turn the lights on. I was wearing long pants and a tight crop top, and at that moment my eyes were opened to the superiority of clothing with minimal skin contact.
Enter this dress, which I found in a little Park Slope boutique. The brand is Nooworks, which is a women-run, SF-based company that partners with artists to offer tons of different cuts and styles in custom print textiles. I fell for this smocked frock from the get-go: its light, loose, airy construction; artist Egle Zvirblyte’s whimsical astral design; the effervescent cotton candy pink, identical to my hair. It’s the epitome of easy-breezy.
I’m obsessed with:

JADE GUA SHA TOOL - THECRUNCHYMAMABEAR
Not to sound like a dirty hipster, but I’ve been wise to the benefits of gua sha long before Vogue and Elle started touting the miraculous properties of rubbing a chunk of crystal all over your face. I remember my mom bringing one back from China and handing it to me, which I promptly forgot about (what does an 8-year-old care for facial rejuvenation?) She probably got it for $1. Now Goop is selling them for $58???
When I KonMari’d my childhood bedroom at the start of the summer, I rediscovered the little jade tool buried at the bottom of my nightstand, and I’ve been doing 20 minutes of scraping and massaging before bed every night. I concentrate the strokes around my jawline and the sides of my neck, 50 passes each side. The results: Wrinkles? Smoothed. Cheeks? Depuffed. Lymph nodes? Drained. Complexion? Sparkling.
On my wish list:

PRETTY LITTLE CITIES SAMPLER SERIES - SATSUMASTREET
You know those avid traveler types who like to put up a big world map and stick pushpins in the places they’ve visited? What I’d like is to put up a whole wall of SatsumaStreet samplers, one for every city I’ve explored. However, the store doesn’t sell the completed samplers, only DIY instructions, and, well, I don’t actually know how to cross-stitch, so I guess what I really want is for someone to download the patterns, do all the stitching and sewing for me, and then present me with the final product. Any takers? Anyone?
