Hit the Sack
KOKUHO ROSE RICE SACK DRESS - 3 WOMEN CO
Have you ever looked at a rice or flour sack and thought, “That’d be cool as a dress”? Yeah, me neither, but after bearing witness to 3 Women Co’s clothing constructed from old sack fabric, I’m fully convinced that it’s a stroke of genius. I love the faded muslin’s rural Americana vibes, a callback to historical times when supplies were scarce and you had to make do with what you had. Based in Long Beach, 3 Women Co is a women-owned and operated “vintage clothing store and eco-friendly design house”; from jackets to jumpsuits, crop tops to coveralls, each garment they create is entirely sustainable and one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, that means this already-sold dress won’t be making a repeat appearance, but check out their entire archive and if you’re really hankering for something specific, they offer custom pieces as well.

STONE LAUNDRY CLIP - FREDERICKS AND MAE
Of all the pandemic-prohibited activities I miss — working at a cafe, dancing at a club, scarfing down a meal shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers at a cramped hole-in-the-wall — spending an afternoon wandering through a museum, then checking out the gift shop, probably tops my list. Museum gift shops are one of my favorite places to browse; you never know what cool-if-slightly-overpriced doodads you might discover. Case in point: this stone laundry clip, which seems like a shoo-in for, say, the MoMA Design Store. If I’d come across it there, I would probably: pick it up, turn it over in my hands, run my fingers over its cool, textured surface, put it down, meander around the rest of the shop, make to leave, then grab the celadon green one at the last minute and walk out with it safely ensconced inside a branded gift bag. Clicking “buy now” just doesn’t hit the same, you know?
Easy as Pie
KEY LIME PIE BERET - ELLENI THE LABEL
Last week I tried to bake a key lime pie, and to be perfectly frank, it was not a rousing success. The graham cracker crust crumbled to pieces, the meringue was mushy and underdone, and I was a bit too overzealous with the zesting. Plus it was doubly disappointing because key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts. Oh well, I’ll soothe my sorrows with this perky little key lime pie beret, which, if it were real, would be delicious and most definitely would not leave bits of lime peel stuck in your teeth. Not a key lime fan? No worries — perhaps a lemon tart, chocolate cake, or pizza pie might strike your fancy?
