Mountain out of a Molehill
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
In the earlier days of WIWO, I would occasionally ask folks that I felt had impeccable taste to come on and write a guest issue. That fell off for a little bit, but it was tons of fun to peek into other people’s shopping carts and I’d love to revive it in 2023. Therefore, I’m taking a step back today and letting Viv Chen take the reins! She’s a creative consultant for secondhand fashion platforms such as TheRealReal, Vestiaire Collective, and Noihsaf Bazaar, and a very snappy dresser on Instagram (@vivthemole). You can also check out some of her musings on vintage clothing, cultural trends, and the best secondhand on the web at her fashion newsletter The Molehill. I’m very excited to share with you her picks; see y’all next week!
High-Brow
BROW SCULPT - REFY BEAUTY ($24)
If I could only use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be this. I’m very attached to having my eyebrows done every day. The REFY brow sculpt is a powerful tool for the fluffy microbladed effect. It takes a few tries to get the hang of the gel thickness and brush tools, but once you figure it out, you can never go back. I recently brought it on vacation in a hot tropical climate and the formula holds up in humidity.
Good as Gold
TROPICANA NECKLACE - MONDO MONDO ($295)
Mondo Mondo makes the most expressive jewelry that marries a sense of antiquity and modernity. The brand fills a gap in the market for demi-fine pricing with a strong design point of view. I haven’t had any issues with discoloration or wear. This heart pendant necklace is my favorite piece in my personal Mondo Mondo collection. It makes me feel regal.
Feather In Your Cap
BRUSHED BERET - MARIA STANLEY ($51)
Add Maria Stanley to your roster of indie knitwear designers. This beret feels very Lauren Manoogian without the steep price. It has a nice fiber composition and makes for a sweet winter accessory. I would wear this beret to add textural interest to an outfit.
Don’t Wine About It
CHENIN BLANC & APPLES - BUDDY BUDDY WINE ($26)
My go-to natural wine for a dinner party or host gift. Buddy Buddy is based in the Bay Area and you can try their wines at the Vinca Minor showroom. The Chenin Blanc with Apples is always a crowd pleaser. I can’t wait to serve this with clam pasta in summer.
