Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
Wow, April already? Time seems to be going by at both a snail’s pace and at the speed of light. I’m dying for summer to hurry up and get here, but also, we’re already 1/4th of the way through 2022? We’re officially into Q2 now? I can hardly believe it. Hope everyone is hanging in there!
Mint Condition
SAINT JULEP - IMAGINARY AUTHORS (FROM $38)
When the weather warms, all I want to wear are brisk, crisp, effervescent scents that put a pep in my step. I recently stopped by Scent Bar and asked the very patient employee behind the counter to bring me any and all mint-inspired perfumes. Heeley’s Menthe Fraiche was too sharp and one-note; ELdO’s You, or Someone Like You a bit too vegetal; but I found myself enamored with Saint Julep, from indie perfume brand Imaginary Authors. The mint is unquestionably present, but it’s rounded out with notes of tangerine, magnolia, bourbon, and sugar cube, to give it some depth and sweetness. I was quite taken by it on the test strip, and I’d like to think that it’d have a similar effect on anyone who smells it on me.
Works Like a Charm
MINI LUCKY CHARM, HAPPINESS - DODO TOUCAN ($13.67)
I’m a sucker for a trinket, a bauble, a knickknack — I think it’s a trait passed down from my mom, who has never managed to encounter a gift/souvenir shop without checking it out. And to be fair, if I saw these irresistibly rotund lucky charms in a gift shop, I would walk out with one in my pocket, no question. Artist Sara Theron shapes and paints each ovoid charm entirely by hand in her Paris workshop, endowing each one with a playful feline mien. She has talismans for friendship, adventure, love, health, but happiness, of course, encompasses all that and more.

SCRAPS SHEARLING TOTE - PRIMECUT BAGS ($348)
I experienced a rather distressing incident recently, which I won’t elaborate too much on, except for the fact that it involved a beloved tote bag and a bottle of pomegranate juice with the lid screwed on crooked. I’m sure you can gather what happened next, so safe to say that I am now on the hunt for a new go-to tote. I’m obsessed with the look of this one from Primecut Bags; it’s pieced together from colorful scraps of leftover and deadstock shearling to create a psychedelic checkerboard effect. However, it is, y’know, expensive, and if another misfortune were to befall it, I’d probably be even more distraught. Should I take the gamble? Please let me know your thoughts.
