Love in the Air
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
I gotta be real with you guys: if you don’t have your Valentine’s Day gifts sorted at this point, none of the below is gonna help you now. I can’t guarantee that any of these picks will arrive on time for the 14th, and if you’re still perusing gift guides in earnest, my advice is to march your ass down to the nearest flower shop pronto. That said, I’m still doing a V-day themed issue today because it’s a sweet holiday with cute aesthetics and we love love! Give yourself over to the cheesy spirit — it’s a lot more fun than being a grump about “materialism” this and “commercialized” that, I promise!
In the Sweet Spot
LEOPARD LOVE LOLLIPOPS SET OF 3 - A SECRET FOREST ($19.50)
Yeah yeah, we’ve all seen the lollipops with the edible petals and the gold flecks that every Pinterest bride gives out as bridesmaid gifts, but have you seen lollipops with full-on leopards inside? Every bonbon made by Vanessa Beller’s confectionery shop A Secret Forest is a work of art rendered in wafer paper, encased in isomalt. If big cats aren’t your thing, perhaps swans, butterflies, or cheeky burlesque dancers will suit your fancy?
Pack Rat
SCOOP BACK CAMI 3-PACK BUNDLE - RATBOI ($100)
PSA, guys: your girl does not want lingerie. I mean, maybe she does, in which case you kids have fun, but on the whole, lingerie is one of those “for you, ostensibly, but actually for me” gifts, one that will be duly trotted out for birthdays and special occasions but will otherwise languish at the back of her underwear drawer. No, fellas, your girl wants Ratboi — cute, comfortable, small-batch basics, feminine without being frilly, elevated without going over-the-top. Get her a three-pack of the brand’s lace-trimmed, rosette-embellished bralettes or undies, and I guarantee you’ll get to see them more than twice a year.
Caught Slippin’
SLIPPERS - LENYS WORLD ($140)
I might be crazy, but I feel like there’s something quite sweet and romantic about gifting slippers? Perhaps because, growing up, my parents would fetch my slippers for me while I was asleep so that I wouldn’t have to get out of bed and step onto the bare hardwood floor. Either way, I feel like it’s a very loving gesture to make sure someone’s feet are warm and snug; though I didn’t get to test this Lenys pair for the Strategist slipper story, the velvet and calfskin are very sumptuous from the looks of it, and small extravagances make for the best gifts imo.
