I was strolling around the East Village, listening to Lana del Rey, which was probably what compelled me to pop into Verameat — one of those witchy indie stores that burns incense and decorates with healing crystals and tarot cards. When I tried this smiley face ring on for size, it fit perfectly, and stacked nicely with my other ring. I walked out with it on my finger.
I spent my last few days in New York pretty down in the dumps — about heading home, about graduating soon, about (gulp) my future job prospects. And when I’m feeling blue, nothing cheers me up quite like impulse buying something shiny. This lil guy reminds me to be open, to be grateful, and to keep on smiling.

It’s almost September, which means it’s almost fall, which means it’s almost time for me to bury my apartment in mini pumpkins and knitted throws and cinnamon-scented candles. I’m back in Los Angeles now for my final year at USC, where the only leaves on the ground are desiccated palm fronds. Nevertheless, I’ve fully leaned into Christian Girl Autumn and bought this big plaid blanket scarf — all I need now are some suede booties and a heavy duty curling iron. So what if the current weather forecast is 85 degrees?

I added these cute concrete pumpkins to my cart back in March, when it was seasonally inappropriate to spring for them. I’ve waited and bided my time and monitored the listing obsessively to ensure they were still in stock, and now the moment to check out has finally come. I can’t wait to display these on my bookshelf, next to my stuffed felt fox. Or maybe they’ll look better under the pinecone garland? Or perhaps as a centerpiece on the table, surrounded by scattered leaves...
