RED OCTOPUS BLANKET - KRISTINAMICOTTI
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a college student in possession of a dorm room, must be in want of a tapestry.
Okay, I was basic, but not that basic — none of that hippie wanderlust shit for me, thanks. I wanted something cool and eye-catching and nowhere to be found on a dorm inspo Pinterest board. So it’s fitting that what I ended up with wasn’t even a tapestry, per se; it was a blanket from Etsy seller Kristina Micotti, a big, thick-knitted blanket, bright pink in color and featuring a red octopus with its tentacles unfurling in every direction. It’s very heavy and high-quality, which is great if you’re trying to keep warm on a chilly night but not so great if you’re trying to hang it up with a single paltry roll of scotch tape. With the help of some heavy duty mounting adhesive, my cephalopod companion eventually stood sentinel over the head of my bed. It watches over me while I sleep and keeps bad dreams at bay.
I’m obsessed with:

HIGHLINER GEL EYE CRAYON - MARC JACOBS BEAUTY
I’m so sad that I tried on this Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon at Sephora, because it is very good and also it is $25. The color is extremely pigmented, dark and intense; the texture is smooth and velvety and glides across the skin; the thin-tipped pencil self-sharpens and handles like a dream. I use it to rim my upper lid, flicking to a knife-sharp point, then smudge my lower lash line with Covergirl’s Perfect Point Plus, the same eyeliner I’ve used since my middle school panda days. I like the juxtaposition of the perfectly-put-together cat eye on top and the rock-and-roll, last-night liner on bottom.
On my wish list:

GIANT CLOUD SCRUNCHIES - ROOM SHOP VINTAGE
In case you hadn’t heard, scrunchies are back in a big way. I mean literally — just look at the size of these whoppers from Philly-based store Room Shop Vintage. I was born in 1998, so by the time I was old enough for hair accessories the trend had faded, although I do remember my mom adorning my ballet buns with scrunchies that matched the color of my leotards. My hair is currently too short to pull into a ponytail, much less a bun, so I’m going to pass on these until I’ve got some more length. But who knows? They might already be passé by then.
