Congrats Grad
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
It’s grad season! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I got my degree and also since wrote this post about some products that would’ve vastly improved my college experience. Today I’m back with part two, about what I would’ve loved to have received in preparation for my new post-grad life (hot tip: forget the commemorative rings and embossed notebooks and go with something they’ll actually use.) Congrats class of 2021!
Oh Sheet
I bought thin, cheap Calvin Klein sheets from Urban Outfitters three years ago, and they are AWFUL. It’s hard to describe what exactly makes them so awful, but they are, for lack of a better word, clingy; as an inveterate tosser and turner, I wake up every morning snarled in my sheets like a fly tangled in a spider’s web. Considering how we spend nearly a third of our life in bed (and that percentage has likely ticked up during COVID — surely I’m not the only one who’s been working remotely while propped up by pillows), it’s worth it to invest in some good sheets. I’m currently eyeing this set from Silvon; their pure cotton sheets are woven through with silver, which has antimicrobial properties that help eliminate acne-causing bacteria. I admit I’m guilty of not washing my sheets as often as I should, so I appreciate any extra measures that prevent gross germs from proliferating unchecked.
The Home Stretch
I offhandedly mentioned to my mom that I was feeling some tightness between my shoulder blades, and next thing I knew I was mired in a 20-minute lecture about the importance of proper posture and how her back pain had started right after college. Sufficiently spooked, I decided to get a yoga mat so I can stretch out my cramped muscles and do a few light exercises. Maybe it’s all just in my head, but honestly I feel like it’s really making a difference. My back hurts less, my range of motion has improved, and after years away from dance, my previous flexibility is slowly but surely returning. Turns out that moving your body makes you feel better — huh, who knew?
Light Up My Life
SET OF 2 LAMPS - FRIENDSHIP LAMPS
At the moment, my friends are spread out everywhere from Massachusetts to Ohio to Texas — no one warned me that as soon as you receive your diploma all your friends would pack up and go trotting off across the country 😢. I love the idea of these long-distance lamps; they’re a sweet and stylish way to stay connected with the people you love. When one lamp is tapped, all the others light up, showing that someone is thinking of you. There’s no limit to the amount of lamps that you can connect together, so you can gift one to friends, partners, family members, and anyone else who loves you but can’t be with you right now.
