POLKA DOT OVERALLS - TWO STRING JANE
If I’m ever feeling a lil down, I just put on these colorful polka dotted overalls. They work wonders because 1) No one can ever be blue while wearing a pair of colorful polka dotted overalls, and 2) They get massive compliments. I wore these to College Night at the Getty, and like ten people came up to tell me how much they loved my overalls. Granted, the event was crawling with art hoes, but I wore these to a dentist appointment too and the receptionist said *I* was the cutest thing she’d ever seen, which like, obviously I was, but I’m sure the overalls helped.
I got them from Portland-based Etsy store TwoStringJane. The owner, Alyssa Zukas, hand-paints (?!) all her wares with her own designs. I was worried that I would have to hand-wash or dry-clean them in case the polka dots faded or disappeared in the laundry, but Alyssa reassured me that it would be perfectly fine if I turned them inside out, and lo and behold, the colors are still as vivid as when I first received them. I was also worried they’d be a little big, but the size small fit perfectly, hitting right at my ankle when uncuffed (and I have a short inseam.) Though the back pockets are fake, the front pockets are deep and spacious, perfect for keys, wallets, phones, or hands. They’re so comfortable, so flattering, and definitely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

I got this little red Maika pouch from the Festival of Books to serve as my new makeup bag. My old one, which had a white canvas lining on the inside, was looking more greyish, having been smeared all over with concealer and eyeliner and who knows what else. A great advantage of this bag is that the lining is dark brown, so stains won’t show, and waterproof, so I can wipe it down every once in a blue moon. Plus, the fun, abstract, floral-y design reminds me of Marimekko prints, which I adore.

JUNO METAL HEEL MULE - LOEFFLER RANDALL
I’m neither a ring nor a mule person, but these Juno metal heel mules from Loeffler Randall may just change my mind on both fronts. I’ve been searching for some office-appropriate footwear in preparation for my internship this summer at MediaCom, and these are perfect for bringing some pizzazz to the “biz caj” work wardrobe that I’ll probably be living in for the next 40 years of my life. Sadly, they’re sold out in my size, so the hunt continues!
