Blast from the Past
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
By now, the Y2K revival is in full swing. Attention-grabbing silhouettes, garish prints, flashy jewelry — full-tilt maximalism is back, baby. Whether or not you want to buy into the look is totally up to you — I’ll always advocate for developing your own personal style over blindly chasing trends — but as someone who was collecting striped overalls and rainbow sweaters back when everyone was still doing the Kim K head-to-toe beige sweats thing, I feel like it’s my time to shine. Anyone got any strong thoughts either way? I’d love to hear ‘em!
Drop It Low
There’s a good chance that by now you’ve heard about, and probably formed an opinion on, low-rise jeans. Their return has been discussed, debated, derided, deplored, lamented, and occasionally fêted ever since the idea was tentatively introduced three years ago, and whatever your views are, I’m happy for you — live and let live, etc. However, for me personally, in possession of a low-slung and, uh, modestly-sized rear, those baggy, high-waisted mom jeans have never done anything for my figure, so I’m excited to welcome some more booty-flattering bottoms to my wardrobe. I’m particularly intrigued by these sleek black pants from Miaou, which manage to make a statement while still remaining subtle and versatile. The cute cutouts on the side, complete with O-ring, are just evocative enough of the exposed thong trend without tipping into “buns out” territory.

EMILIO PUCCI 2004 SS BUCKET HAT - 24/7 ARCHIVES
Honestly, I’m shocked that vintage Emilio Pucci isn’t popping off more on Depop. House of Sunny and Paloma Wool have nothing on Pucci’s signature funky prints — she’s the blueprint, babe. I love the colorful psychedelic pattern on this bucket hat, which is sure to add an instant dose of whimsy to any outfit (plus you get two trends for the price of one!) If you’re on the hunt, Poshmark and eBay are also a treasure trove of Pucci pieces, but let’s just keep that a secret between us, yeah?
All Choked Up
I’m delighted to see beaded chokers making a comeback, but idk, something about the cutesy, kitschy ones with daisies and smiley faces just reminds me too much of my elementary school daycare, where I would sit alone stringing necklaces together because all of my friends had already been picked up. Crafted from glass beads and semi-precious stones, these delicate handmade chokers from Vanessa Campana are a bit more grown-up, but still retain a playful edge — plus they have a stamp of approval from the uber-stylish AI Lil Miquela herself. Campana doesn’t have a storefront and only releases limited batches on the Voons Instagram; her next drop is scheduled for tomorrow, May 6, so set a reminder!
